My computer does not recognize the camera

Check these first

  1. Is the arm down? When the arm is folded up, the Secure Switch physically cuts power to the camera and microphones. Your computer will not see it at all. Fold the arm down.
  2. Plug directly into the computer. USB hubs, docks and monitor USB ports frequently cannot supply enough power. Use a port on the computer itself, and try a different one.
  3. Close other video apps. Only one application can hold the camera at a time.
  4. Try the other end of the cable. Reseat both ends firmly.

Then check your operating system

Mac: open System Settings then Privacy & Security, select Camera, and confirm the app you are using is switched on.

Windows: open Settings then Privacy & security, select Camera, and turn on both Camera access and Let desktop apps access your camera.

Confirm the camera itself is fine

Open your operating system camera app. If the camera appears there, the hardware is working and the problem is in the other application. If it does not appear anywhere, try the camera on a second computer.
