The installer will not open at all
Mac. If macOS says the app “cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”, right-click the app in Applications and choose Open, then Open again. If that option is missing, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Windows. On the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen, click More info, then Run anyway. If nothing happens at all, right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator. On a work computer, IT policy may be blocking unsigned installers — you will need your IT team.
It installed, but iContact Control is not in my camera list
This is the most common outcome, and it is nearly always the virtual camera approval.
iContact Control creates a virtual camera. That is the thing your meeting app selects — it is separate from the physical iContact Camera, and it needs its own approval that the install prompt is easy to click past.
- Mac: open System Settings > Privacy & Security and scroll to the security section near the bottom. If you see a blocked iContact system extension, select Allow. Restart if prompted.
- Open iContact Control and leave it running.
- Quit your meeting app completely — system tray or menu bar, not just the window.
- Reopen it and look for iContact Control in the camera list.
Order matters. Meeting apps only scan for cameras when they launch, so Control has to be running before the meeting app opens.
Still missing after a restart
- Restart the computer, then repeat the sequence above.
- Uninstall iContact Control, restart, and install the current build from Mac or Windows. An older build left over from a previous install is a common cause.
- Check camera and microphone permissions: Mac System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and Microphone; Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and Microphone, with desktop app access on.
Corporate and managed computers
Managed Macs and PCs often block system extensions by policy, and the block is silent. If you have no Allow button in Privacy & Security, that is the signal — your IT team has to approve the extension.
